The booklet is a critical edition of intriguing yet minor and forgotten works of Jan Kochanowski: Dryas Zamchana and Pan Zamchanus. The first of these was originally published in two language versions, Latin and Polish, the latter is supplemented with a contemporary translation. These poetic, dramatic idylls, being in fact panegyrics praising King Stephen Bathory, ended a longer period of artistic inactivity of the poet from Czarnolas, and currently offer an inspiration to deeper reflection over Renaissance art of translation and imitation.
