This volume is a facsimile edition of an early 19th-century manuscript compiled by Gustaw Gizewiusz containing a collection of Masurian folk songs. After its partial publication by the ethnographer Oskar Kolberg the manuscript fell into oblivion. But many of the songs in it still remain unknown, and have not been examined sufficiently for the value they present from the point of view of folklore studies.
