This volume is a reproduction of a special copy of the first edition of Stanisław Wyspiański's Wesele (English translations: The Wedding). In 1901 the artist Kazimierz Sichulski illustrated this particular copy with a series of water-colours and a decoration for the title page. We now reproduce this copy, supplementing our edition with a singularly discerning postscript by Professor Ewa Miodońska-Brookes, who offers an innovative interpretation of the play's manifold contexts, images, and symbols.
