A special publication commemorating the eightieth anniversary of the restitution of the City of Toruń to Poland. We reproduce a water-colour from a private collection, showing Dr Otto Steinborn welcoming Polish troops entering the City of Toruń in 1920. This picture served as the design for a large painting by Feliks and Bruno Gęstwicki, which was destroyed by Nazi forces following the invasion of 1939. Today the water-colour is the only surviving souvenir testifying to the erstwhile existence of the large canvas. It was our intention to record a now lost item of national heritage. The reproduction is accompanied by an extract from the memoirs of Helena Steinbornowa.
