This edition of Jan T. Józefowicz's Lwów utrapiony (The Troubled Lvov) was based on the manuscript kept in the Ossolineum Collection (1631 II), which is probably the autograph. The reason for publishing the diary seems beyond discussion: being a source, the text has both documentary and linguistic merits. The diary is the most extensive account devoted to the capture of Lvov in the year 1704, put down by a witness of the fall of the city. Thus the account is an "internal" report - both objective and touching at the same time.
